So here you are looking to read about Charging Systems and I’m sure you have a lot of questions like: What is a charging system, what does it have to do with my car, and how do I know if it is broken and needs an inspection and/or repair? Well, I am here to answer those questions for you. In simple terms, a charging system is the powerhouse of your car. That's right, gasoline isn’t the only thing your car needs in order to run, electricity is another important component that allows your car to start, for your radio play music and your headlights to shine. 

 

The charging system of your car is composed of 3 components; the battery, the alternator, and belt. These parts work together to keep your car charged and running.

Signs Your Charging System Needs Repair

There are numerous warning signs that there is something wrong with your charging system. If you notice any of these signs it's important that you have them inspected and repaired because waiting too long with these problems will only leave you stranded with a car that wont turn on and none of us want to be stuck in that situation. So make sure to be on the lookout for these signs: 

 

  • Insufficient Electrical Output: meaning your lights have dimmed, a lag or non-working power window, power lock, air conditioning or car radio. 

  • Too much voltage

  • Weird smells: Rotten egg smell

  • Noise: Squeaking, Rattling , or Roaring

  • Warning light (battery light) turns on

  • Weak or dead battery â€‹

  • Car stalls or has difficulty starting â€‹
