The worst feeling is when you get in a car, turn on the a/c, and it blows out hot air. If you don’t keep your a/c maintained by having it checked annually you may find yourself in this unfortunate situation. Here are a few reasons why your a/c system isn’t keeping its cool:
A/C or Refrigerant Leak
A Refrigerant leak is the most common sign why your a/c feels like it's breathing fire instead of ice. Refrigerant is a liquid that circulates through your vehicle's a/c system and none of your a/c’s components can operate properly when the system is low on refrigerant.
Faulty Condenser
Your a/c systems condenser is the component that keeps the refrigerant nice and cool. If the condenser is broken or clogged the refrigerant cannot cool and results in the unfortunate blow of hot air to your face.

Broken Compressor
The compressor is the heart of the A/C system. It’s job is to keep the refrigerant moving, and if it’s not working correctly the refrigerant can’t get to where it needs to be.
No Movement = No Cool Air
Electrical failure
If all the components of the a/c system are all healthy, and your car still feels like a human toaster it is most likely an electrical issue. A frayed wire or blown fuse can result in the a/c system trying to turn you into a piece of toast.
